Tuning the Noise Model Feature

This section describes how to tune the Noise Model feature to control the noise models of the sharpness module within a DC9400.

Before you begin

Make sure:
  • The details view shows the settings of the Noise Model feature for sharpness.

To tune this feature, you need to choose DC9400 > Sharpness > Noise Model in the Features view. For more details, see Tuning a DC9400 Feature.

  • A VTunerServer is accessible.

For information about how to set up a connection to a VTunerServer, see Setting Up a Connection to a VTunerServer.

About this task

This feature is used to tune the three noise models of the sharpness module, which generate curve LUTs.
The details view of Noise Model includes a graph on the left to show the variances of the noise models at a total of nine control points, where:
  • The vertical axis indicates the variance.
  • The horizontal axis indicates the input value.

Procedure

Double-click a cell in a Model column and update the value.
  • The values in rows 1 to 8 indicate the variance of the corresponding noise model at each control points.
  • The values in row 9 indicate the luma strength of the corresponding noise model.

Results

  • The tuning results are printed in the Console view in real time.
  • The image displayed on the VTunerServer side is updated.
