Tuning the Histogram Feature

This section describes how to tune the Histogram feature to control the local historgram submodule of LTM within a DC9400.

Before you begin

Make sure:
  • The details view contains the Histogram table for LTM.

To tune this feature, you need to choose DC9400 > LTM > Histogram in the Features view. For more details, see Tuning a DC9400 Feature.

  • A VTunerServer is accessible.

For information about how to set up a connection to a VTunerServer, see Setting Up a Connection to a VTunerServer.

About this task

This feature is used to tune the local histogram submodule of LTM, which accumulates the number of detail detections in each region, with the histogram X and Y cooridnates derived from input X and Y coordinates and histogram bin index derived from the input luma value.
Note: This feature is still under development.

Procedure

  1. Next to Histogram Enable, select Enable to enable the local histogram submodule.
  2. Next to Histogram Overlapping Enable, select Enable or Disable to control whether to allow overlapping for the LTM histogram.
  3. In the Histogram Grid Depth spin box, specify the grid depth for the histogram.
The supported value range is from 1 to 64, inclusive.
  4. Next to Histogram Start Position, click View/Edit this Table and edit the coordinates of the start position for histogram accumulation in the prompted dialog.
The columns in Histogram Start Position are described as follows:
    • X: the X coordinate of the start position
    • Y: the Y coordinate of the start position
You can use one of the following methods to update the Histogram Start Position table:
    • Double-click and edit a single value in the table.
    • Click Edit and update the values in the prompted Edit Table dialog.

The values must be specified in the same order as those in the table and separated by a comma (,).

    • Click Export to export the values to a .csv file, edit the file, and then import the updated values from the .csv file.

The order of the values in the exported .csv file is the same as that in the table.

  5. Next to Histogram Grid Scale, click View/Edit this Table to edit the grid scale for histogram accumulation.
The columns in Histogram Grid Scale are described as follows:
    • W: the scale ratio along the X-axis
    • H: the scale ratio along the Y-axis
The methods of updating the Histogram Grid Scale table are similar to those of updating the Histogram Start Position table described in Step 4.

Results

The tuning results are printed in the Console view in real time.
